Buying Fabric

The student will be shown a table, similar to the back of a pattern envelope, showing the yardage needed to sew 3 dresses in a range of sizes. yardages are in 1/8 yard increments. The student will add, subtract or multiply using mixed numbers.

Problem Types

	Addition. The student will add 2 mixed numbers, or, possibly, a mixed number and a fraction.
	Subtraction. The student will subtract one mixed number from another. Answers will usually be fractions.
	Multiplication. The student will multply a mixed number by a whole number, and may convert the answer to a dollar amount.

Common Denominators

Fractions in addition and subtraction problems will have common denominators.
Fractions in addition and subtraction problems will not have common denominators.
Fractions in addition and subtraction problems may or may not have common denominators.

Regrouping

Addition and subtraction problems do not require regrouping.
Addition and subtraction problems may require regrouping.
